    MS Access

  MS Access would normally be the user interface for additional data, data modifications, etc., and would be the controller for the overall system.
   MS Excel
  Can be used to collect data from hundreds of different sources and automatically uploaded to the host database.
  Excel can also be used as the report writer allowing recipients to further analyse the collected data.
    MS Outlook
  Outlook can be used to automatically distribute regular reports or as an 'alarm' system to alert relevant personnel when trigger events occur.
